30 diciembre 三分钟英语演讲——Ideal SocietyGood evening, Ladies and Gentlemen: I’d like to start with a group of pictures. "Modern and advanced"? This society forgets, and ignores the other two thirds of human beings. It's far from the ideal! We call ideal as a utopian, a place where reality does not exist. A few people still look forward to the ideals. We make fun of them, considering they are naive. Will we still be content to live in such a society, if misfortune drops to us? No! Of cause not! When we feel the warmth of the sun, these people, endure great sorrows and pains. Can we imagine that? They are our brother and sisters! Facing them, will we still complain about our own misfortune? Facing them, will we still have the mood shouting for our own freedom? Facing them, will we still want to have more and more unnecessary stuff? They are unable to meet their needs, even the basic needs of survival! Everyone, as a member of humanity, shouldn't feel ashamed? Our luxury deprived their lives, our indifference violated our soul, and our barbarity destroyed human civilization! What's the ideal society? It's a society no one worries about their living, a society no one is refused from education, a society everyone can pursue his/her own happiness! The ideal society is filled with love, joy and kindness. In that society, we can touch the other's hearts, we can share our dreams and most important, we can just be the true men! Let's break the ethnic divide, bridge the gap between rich and poor, hand in hand, to build a Great wall, protecting us from evil; to construct a steady bridge, connecting reality to the ideal society! Let's pursue for that, that's the only way to the bright future! They are watching us! Thank you! 28 octubre My feelingsWith the purpose to practice our spoken English, He Zhijian and I went to wudaokou. Our English teacher, Peter, had suggested us to find some foreigners there. We rode there full of expectation, but we got no single valuable thing at all.(Except for a strange kind of food named braked fish cake(?) which took me 1 yuan to have a taste) That's not a good choice if you want to improve your English, because you have no idea about what will happen. Moreover, I doubt that what can we learn from a short and some kind of thoughtless conversation. That's waste of time and of cause, waste of life.
Virtually the most uncomfortable thing is that I have to put down my face, walk to the foreigner(s), burst out my trembling voice, and wait for their response. Why should I do that? I live in my country and have my own language to communicate, and my English is not too bad to understand an English book. Isn't that enough?
The main reason about why I want to practice my English is that I feel very frustrated during and after my spoken English class. We talk about Taiwan issue with Peter, an American boy, yet I can't express my own thoughts! What a shame! Just let him say anything he want to say? If I'm in America, maybe I will tolerate such behavior of myself. However, I'm stand at the exact place that belongs to my own country! And I'm in Beijing, the capital of the big China! I can't tolerate this, without any reasons.
A friend of mine said that it's impossible to argue with and finally persuade Americans using their own language, say nothing of Peter's major. That's true, Peter got his bachelor's degree of Politics. I have no predominants.
